The bottom set of doors closing behind us.
We are in the first lock and you can see the whirlpools of water flooding into the lock.
The lock doors for our next lock open up and we head in and tie up again.
The doors for lock 17 open up and we pull over to our starboard side to check out the falls.
We had fun in the falls for a hour or so and then headed back to the boat. Inconceivable is peaking out above the lock wall.
We passed several farms along the way.
We loved the green tree house.
Lock 19 was our last lock of the day. For the first time we were not alone. We locked with another Carver 36 built in 1991 like ours but with gas engines, a Neptune make of similar length, as well as a small pontoon boat and an open bow. We were are all snug as a bug in the lock.
Our crowd of watchers.
After Lock 19 we headed over to the Peterborough Marina. The city put in this fountain a few years ago in their basin.
We will be at the Peterborough Marina for a week. Inconceivable needs some maintenance work to be done before we can leave. As Andrew was backing into our slip here our port engine died. The deckhands at the Peterborough Marina had our 50 Stern line and actually knew what to do. As Andrew shouted for help we had 8 boaters lending their help and boarded other boats to keep us and them safe. It would have been a much different story all together without their help. We were thankful that it happened in a marina and not a next lock. After investigating it looks like the cotter pin sheered connecting our leaver to the transmission cable on the fly bridge. We are having someone come make sure everything is good before moving on again.
