Fenelon Falls to Trent Talbot Marina

After a very rainy Monday, Tuesday met us with winds ranging from 10-15 miles an hour. Cameron Lake was our first waterway after leaving Fenelon Falls. We were at lock 35, Rosedale before we knew it.

We are now on Balsam Lake. We are at a height of 840 feet above sea level and we are at the highest point in the Trent-Severn Waterway.

The narrow cut of the Trent Canal. We radioed Security calls along the way as suggested in case other boaters were heading our way. Nan is the only other boat to radio as well. I was on the bow checking for rocks and deadheads in the water.

We were glad we met this houseboat in Mitchell Lake and not in the narrow canal. We did not hear any security calls from any boats heading our way.

The wind started to pick up as we approached the Kirkfield Lift Lock. Andrew drove out onto the pan which was suspended in the air. Very scary. We did not go all the way to the gate for a better view instead we stayed back a bit. We let Nan slide forward to take a video of the descent, if we meet back up with them we would love a copy. We got ourselves tied onto the pan and waited for our decent. This is our first drop of many until we reach the Georgian Bay. We dropped 49 feet.

We made it to the bottom and are now in the Canal Lake which is very narrow. We meet two houseboats heading in our direction. All goes well.

We made it to Hole in The Wall!

We have 5 locks left on the Trent Canal before Lake Simcoe. The winds have not died down and radio broadcasts are going out warning of large waves and high winds on Lake Simcoe.

It very funny to see cows turning their heads as we passed by. Nice to know we could be some amusement for them.

We made it to lock 39 and the winds were increasing. The lockmaster didn't get a response from lock 40 alerting them that we were coming so they hopped on their golf cart and raced us to the next lock. They won of course.

We found Sweet Pea docked at lock 40 and enjoying the peaceful park to themselves.

The sign for the marina we were staying at. It was a tight and shallow channel. We like staying on the lock walls however, our Wave Wi-Fi stopped working and kills that option for us now. We will replace the Wi-Fi when we get back in the US.
