Peoria, IL to Grand Island mm106.9

A view of the Illinois Valley Yacht Club from our aft deck. We called the Peoria Lock and knew that one barge was heading for the lock and after that they were unsure. So we headed downriver 20 miles towards the lock.

The city of Peoria

We arrived at the Peoria Lock and Dam by 10:30am. There was a barge in the lock, one barge waiting and a sailboat. The waiting barge Captain of Charlotte was nice enough to let us pleasure boats, ie sailboat and us, take his turn in the locks. Within 30 minutes of his offer two other pleasure crafts were arrived.  After drifting for a bit one of the captains said we could tie off to the beached barges and wait. So all four of us tied off to barges and waited another hour or so before it was our turn. We did take a peak inside the barge filled with scrap metal.

The Little Tug that could!!

I am still working on a great AGLCA Burgee picture. This one comes close.

Since the day was gorgeous we decided to play a game of Lego Harry Potter on the Aft deck.
