Hoppies to Grand Rivers, KY

Inconceivable on the Dock at Hoppies.

We left Hoppies at 7:00am and stopped for the night at Little Diversion Creek on the Mississippi River at 4:30pm.

Sunrise at 7:00am as we came out of Little Diversion, MO. We had a 12 hour day of cruising on the Mississippi River.

I tried to get some good pictures to show the eddies and whirlpools.

One of the many dry docks on the Mississippi River for Barges and Tugs.

When we turned up the Ohio River we saw the new lock and Dam under construction.  Lock 53 had the wickets down so we drove right over the dam.

The wickets were up for  lock 52 after the town of Metropolis so we waited for our turn to lock up the river.  The sun was setting quickly and we knew we were going to arrive at our anchorage in the dark.

Our dusk view of Paducah.

Our sunrise on the Tennessee River at 7:30am. We had a short trek up the river to the Kentucky Lakes lock and dam. We called ahead and were told that our wait time would be between two and three hours. While we were waiting at anchor we watched the train go by looking for the coolest graffiti artwork.

We made it through the lock and out onto Kentucky Lake.
