lock 5 to lock 15

On Friday we woke up and entered lock 5 a little before 9:00am. Our goal for the day was to make it through both sets of  flight locks by 4:00pm. Plans change. After talking to several lock masters and asked where would they stop for the day. The winning choice and most referred spot was the park right after lock 15 and before flight locks 16& 17.  Fifteen is Andrew's favorite number so Lock 15 was our destination for the night. There were lots of boaters out and about due to the unseasonably warm weather here in Canada. The boat of choice in these waters are canoes, Kayaks, and  under 26 feet open cockpit and bass boats. Inconceivable was the only cruising boat in our horizon all day. We were shocked that we had all of the locks to ourselves!  It was another beautiful day on the water. After 11 locks for the day we were ready to take a dip in the water and enjoy a nice fire and cookout again. The temperature was well into the 90's and the water was refreshing.

The lockmaster is releasing the water so we can enter the lock.

The lockmasters are also in charge of the bridges at their locks as well.

Canadian campground

Our first set of flight locks 11 &12. This one had a large crowd of visitors looking at us boaters rise and fall in the flight lock. It was our tallest lock so far in our journey.

Our spot for the night.  Another great night of peaceful sleeping. The lockmasters do a wonderful job of creating park settings for boaters as well as campers.
