Sabastian's entry on Sainte-Marie among the Hurons

Last month we went to Sainte-Marie among the Hurons. Saint-Marie was built  by the French Jesuit Mission to the Huron Indians. When you go in the museum entrance they give you an activity booklet. After you get the activity booklet you watch a movie about Sainte-Marie. When the movie was done the screen lifts up and there was a door that was open. We walked into Sainte-Marie and saw 2 rooms. One was a bedroom and the other one was full of fur. The next room was the blacksmith's workshop and you got a sticker. Then we went around the village and found a place that was demonstrating how they use to make fires. Then we made a game called bones and sticks, we also played lacrosse and made faces out of clay. The next demonstration we saw was a canoe going through the small locks. After that we ate lunch and left Sainte-Marie.

Let there be fire!

Now it is our turn. It is much harder than it looks.

Here we are making sticks and bones.

Sabastian is playing lacrosse with a few other boys.

The canoe coming up from the river and into Sainte-Marie.

The two of us in a birch bark long house. We watched the workers make new panels for the house. The tree roots are being softened in the boiling water over the fire.
