We woke up to a foggy morning. This barge passed us at 8:15am. We decided that the fog needed to burn a little more before we headed down river. Andrew nor I wanted want to pass this barge around the next bend in the fog. We caught up to the barge a short while later and after the fog lifted.
We found a large flock of White Pelicans. Some of them took off as we passed by.
We arrived at LaGrange Lock and Dam at 11:30am. There was a large barge loading into the lock and we were told to drop anchor or beach ourselves on the mud while waiting our turn. The lockmaster's plan was lock down the barge load that filled the entire lock itself. Then the lockmasters wrenched out the barges on the downside so they can close the doors and refill the lock for the two tugs and two pleasure boats. It was cool to ride a lock with two tugs. All four us of enjoyed watching the barge workers reattach themselves back to their load. As soon as we could we exited the lock and passed the barge quickly.
We saw several Bald Eagles. I managed to get a few good photos.
We really look like cruisers now with our collection of fenders on the deck with our bikes.
Our anchor spot for the night at McEvers Island.
Another beautiful sunset.
