Solomon's Island, MD to Philadelphia,PA

On May 21 we left Solomon's Island, MD and set out to accomplish our goal of making it to Philadelphia by Sunday night. As we headed up the Chesapeake Bay we saw7 tankers and one Navy vessel anchoring outside of the mouth of the Severn River. It was a gorgeous day to be on the water. Sailboaters and power boaters were out enjoying themselves.

We have the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Rte 301 in our sites for 5 miles. This is my first time for traveling under this bridge. I have been over this bridge many times. After cruising under the bridge we set our sights on anchoring out in The Haven at Rock Hall, MD.

We arrived at 5:30pm and saw that over 30 boats were already anchored out and enjoying the beautiful afternoon. After we found a spot the kids and Andrew went for a swim and did a little kayaking as well. The water temperature in the upper Chesapeake Bay was 74 Degrees.

Sunday morning we woke up to a stark contrast to Saturday. There were thick clouds in the sky and it loomed of rain all day.
A fellow looper on day one of their second loop aboard Great Escape! The couple enjoyed the trip 2 years ago so much they decided to do it again.

The helpful locals at The Hollywood Beach Marina who drove Andrew to the nearest marina to buy oil while I cleaned up the oil mess in the engine compartment.  Fun times.

The Chesapeake and Delaware Canal Bridge and The St. George's Bridge

The marsh area in the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal was beautiful.

This was our view of the mouth of the Delaware River. We reached the Delaware River at 4:00pm and estimated our underway time at 4.5 hours until we reached the Benjamin Franklin Bridge.

The sunsets and the rain starts as we continue our drive up the Delaware River. The piers along the waterfront are beautiful. I will take some pictures when the sun is out on our trek south on Saturday.
